What are the Prizes?
The grand prize will be a weekend pass to Fantasy Con and a Feature on the Cosplay Stitch and Seam.
All entries will be a part of a mini feature on the blog as well.

How do I enter?
Message VFire on Facebook or use the contact form on the blog (upper right.) You can also e-mail VFire directly at VFire.props @ gmail.com. You will need to include the following in your message. If anything is missing I may not use it. Also, you must be older than 16 to enter.

Your real name:
Cosplayer name (if applicable):
Cosplay and series:
Age:
A picture of you in a cosplay: (make sure to add photographer credit)
A breif description about how that cosplay was made and why you chose it:
Will you be able to go to Fantasy Con: Yes or no (If you cannot make, still enter. I might give the ticket away as a second prize if the main winner cannot attend.)

*Bought cosplays are welcome!

This is necessary for the mini features. Entries will be limited to 20 spots and will be first come first serve. If there do end up being more I may include them, but only if it is a little bit more. I have recieved few entries for events in the past so if we get 20 that would be awesome!

How will the winner be chosen?
The winner will be selected randomly via D20!! (hence the 20 entry limit) Every entry will recieve a random number. If all goes according to plan there will be a video posted of the D20 being tossed!

Deadline is June 22!! The winner will be announced on June 23!!

I cannot wait to see all the entries so get them in! Thank you for reading.

How to Make Auron's Blade - The Cosplay Armory

As promised, James of the Cosplay Armory shares his knowledge on how to make Auron's Katana from the game, Final Fantasy X. I have been very excited for this as I followed his page as he worked on the blade. I hope you enjoy it! - VFire

Auron's Katana Build by James

A note before I start. I will be mentioning the use of several machines that I have the luxury of having in my shop that I am well aware not everyone has. The first step to building any prop is figuring out what you’re going to make it out of. A lot of prop makers use light woods like poplar and MDF and while I have used some wood I decided it would be my first sword that I built e…

Ep. 017 - Secrets of Cosplay Docs for Contests!

Check out these Documentation examples here free to check out from le Googles.

Contests may have different requirements so make sure to check what the judges are looking for. Here are 5 thing to remember when making your documentation.

1. Reference pictures. If you have one thing have this in your docs. Bring a reference of the character. Front, back, and side views are always a nice bonus!

Sometimes it is nice to put a reference right next to something in progress. For example VFire used the above images to show how she worked on Sheik's braid and aimed to replicate the weird criss cross at the top.
2. Progress picture.
Show your process. Did something not work out? Show that and why you chose another path. Show the evolution of your work.

3. Summarize.
Group similar methods together (e.g. when your arm…

Ep. 18 Body Positivity and You

Today's guests talk about loving your body with body positivity. Meet Turtlebunnies Cosplay and Unroyalty Cosplay (@un_royalty on instagram) as they talk about road blocks they have run into and how they are overcoming them.

Everyone should love their body, no matter what type of body you have. It can be difficult with society saying that beauty is one thing or another, but listen to these two cosplayers and what they have to say. Their advice and stories are inspiring!

As always, thanks for being here listerners!
