MindCraft Success

MindCraft was a huge success and there is word of a second one for the summer coming up! I most certainly plan on going to it and would love to return as a presenter.  The next time this is held I certainly plan on bringing more things to work on while panels are going on. I was really not sure what to expect at this and it was truly a wonderful surprise. What a great way to get out and meet other crafters in the dead of a Utah winter.

Everyone settling in at MindCraft for the presentations. All of these great minds here had some very good ideas and crafting skills! You can see my props for the prop panel sitting out on the table.
After braving a freaky Utah fog to get to BEAU we all settled in for a day of crafting and knowledge sharing. The presentations were amazing! I need to get me some Sintra/Excel. That stuff is amazing! The panel on armor making was very well put together by members of H.E.R.O.I.C. Inc. and the Mandalorian Mercs: Krayt Clan.  In fact, all the panels were great…

Facebook Event Page
Check out this fun, free event on crafting costumes! Need help on a current project? Not sure what materials to use for a prop or armor? Bring your questions and knowledge to MindCraft this Saturday January 26th, 2013.

Yes, I am posting this the day before the event, but if you can make it, come! There are so many great panelists coming and at a great location too. It is pretty much eight hours of costuming crafting and learning. I will be hosting a panel at noon, "Props like a Pro." From there the day gets even better as the panels go on. Armor making, molding and casting, and even mascot costuming tips.

I will also be attempting to film some of the panels and the activities going on. If the filming goes alright I will be posting the videos for those who missed out on the fun within the next few weeks. Check back here for updates and an event review!

Event Schedule:
10:00 am: Doors Open!
11:00 am: Meet and greet panel “Welcome to the Event”
12:00 pm: Divid…

January Feature: Kiki Kabuki

Happy New Year! This month's Cosplay feature is none other than Nikki, aka: Kiki Kabuki!

Nikki as Ittoki from Uta no Prince-sama.
Over the past few years I have had the honor of watching Nikki grow as an inspirational cosplayer in the cosplay community. This past week she competed at Anime Los Angeles (ALA) and took home two prizes for her Seto cosplay from Fragile Dreams. You can see her performance in the video below. She won Best Workmanship and Best Individual Presentation.
Nikki as Seto from Fragile Dreams: ALA performance
I chose Nikki as a feature for the new year because of two things. First, she started this year with a bang at ALA. Secondly, my new year's resolution has to deal with stage presence and this girl has it down so well. The thing that impresses me most about Nikki is her stage performance. She is incredibly talented and knows how to impress the audience. Her ALA skit brought some in the audience to tears.
